Palisades Residence

Palisades Residence is a 3,200-square-foot renovation, redesigned for empty nesters embracing a new phase of life.

One of the core challenges of this project was working within the limits of the existing structure. Rather than opting for a full addition, our clients wanted to make strategic updates that would dramatically improve livability. Chief among them: opening up the kitchen, living, and dining areas to allow for entertaining, and expanding the primary bedroom into a more private space within the home.

To meet those goals, we removed walls, reconfigured layouts, and optimized every inch of the existing footprint for function and flow. Behind the scenes, this required close coordination to accommodate structural beams, reroute plumbing, and navigate permitting logistics.

Collaboration was central to the process. Through a detailed questionnaire and discovery phase, we gained a clear understanding of the couple’s functional needs and aesthetic preferences, including durable surfaces, hidden storage, and custom features.

The kitchen became a particular focus of this project. Designed for both daily use and dinner party hosting, the kitchen features custom cabinetry, integrated storage, and built-in systems, including a waste bin and cutting board system. Throughout the home, walnut millwork provides continuity with functionality, including extensive built-ins in the living room and primary bedroom.

The design of the home emphasizes contrast in texture rather than color, pairing architectural lines with natural wood, soft textiles, and layered finishes. In the primary bedroom, lighting, custom walnut cabinetry, and a marble-inspired quartz bathroom come together for a palette that prioritizes both aesthetic appeal and low maintenance.

Every finish was selected with longevity in mind. Our clients wanted the look of natural stone without the upkeep, so we opted for durable alternatives. This included quartz countertops, man-made surfaces, and rich wood veneers that bring luxury to a home designed for real life.
